Your psychologist will often spend the majority of your first consultation with you (the parent or guardian) to gather information and discuss the most appropriate structure of future therapy for your child. Please note any child who engages in therapy must have consent from both biological parents, excluding circumstances where one parent has sole responsibility for the health of the child. Should you require further clarification around this policy please contact our office.
-
What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment? If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please allow a minimum of 24 hours (1 full business day). Ie if your appointment is scheduled for 9am Monday, we would require notice before 9am on the Friday prior, otherwise you will incur a fee. Cancellation fees are calculated at 50% of your session fee for appointments cancelled within 24 business hours or no show appointments. Please note calling our office is the most effective way to ensure we receive your message and you are welcome to leave a voicemail outside of business hours to ensure you notify us before the cancellation deadline.
-

-
How many appointments should I book?We recommend that you book 4 appointments at the time of your initial booking scheduled approximately 2-3 weeks apart, to ensure you begin therapy with consistent frequency. Our psychologists calendars are usually heavily booked so we encourage booking appointments in advance to avoid you missing out on an appointment time.
-
Do you offer telehealth services?Yes, all of our psychologists are able to facilitate therapy through telehealth platforms if you prefer.
-

What is your cancellation policy? If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please allow a minimum of 24 business hours. Ie if your appointment is scheduled for 9am Monday, we would require notice before 9am on the Friday prior, otherwise you will incur a fee. Cancellation fees are calculated at 50% of your session fee for appointments cancelled within 24 business hours or no show appointments. **NDIS clients - Cancellation fees are charged at 100% for late cancellations under 48 business hours or no shows as per NDIS guidelines.** Clients whose appointments are funded through Workcover Qld, Department of Veteran Affairs or Insurance companies are responsible for payment of cancellation fees themselves, as they are not covered by the third party company. Please note calling our office is the most effective way to ensure we receive your message and you are welcome to leave a voicemail outside of business hours to ensure you notify us before the cancellation deadline. Please note that while we endeavour to remind you of your appointments through email and SMS reminders, these should not be relied upon as it’s your responsibility to remember appointments you have made. Cancellation fees are payable at the time of cancellation. Our cancellation policy is enforced with the aim of reducing disruptions to the psychologists calendars and loss of psychologists time in preparation for the appointment and also allows us enough time to contact other clients on our waiting list who are in urgent need of an appointment.

-

What should I expect at my first appointment?Typically your psychologist will ask you questions to gather background information and will create a plan of how your therapy will be structured. The frequency and number of sessions you should book will also be discussed. It is very normal to feel anxious or nervous about your first appointment. Our psychologists and friendly reception staff strive to provide a comfortable and non-judgemental place for you to discuss anything you need to.
-
Do you accept NDIS participants?Yes, all of our psychologists are registered as NDIS providers. Please note that we can only facilitate appointments for NDIS participants who are either plan managed or self managed.

What is the cancellation policy for NDIS participants?Where a participant cancels at short notice (two full business days), we as the provider are able to claim 100% of the agreed fee associated with the service. Please note that NDIA states they will pay for cancellations when a participant has given less than 7 business days notice, however our practice has minimised the time frame to 2 business days to alleviate pressure for clients who need to cancel an appointment.
-
What is the difference between provisional, general and clinical psychologists?A provisional psychologist is someone who has completed their tertiary qualifications and is undertaking a program of supervision to become a fully registered psychologist. A general and clinical psychologist have the same foundation of training, the difference is the additional supervised clinical training the general psychologist must complete in order to receive their clinical registration which typically takes around 18 months to complete.
